A rhythm flows through the fields—born from the rustling rice paddies, carried through song, and brought to life by traditions passed down from one generation to the next. Inspired by the spirit of the harvest season, Carlsberg's Rhythm of Harvest is more than a music video; it is a heartfelt celebration of identity, gratitude, and belonging in Sabah and Sarawak, where every melody, movement, and story reflects the rich cultural heritage of the communities.
From vibrant traditional attire and expressive choreography to authentic musical elements and stunning visual tributes to the region's natural icons—including the majestic hornbill, the towering peaks of Mount Kinabalu, and the blooming Rafflesia—every detail has been thoughtfully woven together to honour the enduring spirit and cultural significance of the harvest celebrations.
Building on its collaboration with local artists—including Sabahan artist Nelson Lip and Sarawakian artist T. Bagak, whose rice-inspired Carlsberg packaging designs celebrated the harvest as a symbol of life, culture and sustenance—Carlsberg has taken the journey a step further with Rhythm of Harvest. Bringing together traditional music, dance, costumes and storytelling, the campaign transforms cultural heritage into a vibrant artistic expression that honours the spirit of the harvest season.
This year, the spotlight turns behind the scenes. Created by locals, for locals, People Behind the Rhythm is a three-part film series that celebrates the individuals who brought Rhythm of Harvest to life. Through their personal stories, lived experiences and creative journeys, the trilogy offers an intimate look at the passion, traditions and community spirit that continue to shape Sabah and Sarawak's harvest celebrations.
“‘Rhythm of Harvest’ was always about celebrating Sab ah and Sarawak in a way that feels true to the people and communities it represents. With ‘People Behind The Rhythm’, we wanted to step back and let those voices come through — because these are their stories, told in their own way. This is what Raikan Bersama Sabah & Sarawak means to us,” said Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia.
Through a three-part film series, People Behind the Rhythm brings to light the stories behind Rhythm of Harvest—from the communities whose rich traditions inspired the campaign to the passionate creatives who transformed those stories into a powerful cultural expression. Directed by award-winning Sarawakian filmmaker Sarah Lois, whose storytelling is deeply rooted in her Kelabit heritage, the series was developed in close collaboration with local communities to ensure every story is portrayed with authenticity, cultural sensitivity and respect.

Each film explores a unique aspect of the harvest celebration, from heartfelt journeys of reconnecting with one's cultural roots to the enduring role of music in preserving traditions and collective memories. It also showcases how traditional dance continues to evolve while remaining a meaningful expression of identity, connecting generations through shared heritage and celebration.
Among those featured is Melina William, lyricist of Rhythm of Harvest, who reflects on how music carries identity across distance.
“In rediscovering my roots through music, I realised that the sounds of home stay with us wherever we go. For those who are far from home, music has a way of bringing us back — and that’s something we can be proud of, because no matter where we are, we all carry a piece of home within us,” she said.
Choreographer Arthur Darren shares how movement bridges tradition and modern expression.
“Every movement carries a story. With Rhythm of Harvest, it honours the roots of our traditional dance while expressing it in a way that today’s generation can connect with. It’s about carrying our culture forward, not leaving it behind,” he said.

From the rhythms of the harvest fields to the stories that unite communities, Carlsberg's Raikan Bersama Sabah & Sarawak celebrates the rich heritage, shared identity and enduring traditions that continue to bring people together across generations.
