Ed Sheeran Broke Down in Tears Over His Wife’s Tumor and Best Friend’s Death

Ed Sheeran who announced the upcoming release of his album Subtract, recalled few events that occurred across 2022 that had unexpectedly changed his life and mental state.

“At the start of 2022, these events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I perceived music and art,” he wrote.

Firstly, Ed Sheeran's wife, Cherry Seaborn, had discovered a tumor while she was pregnant with their second child. The little girl was born in May 2022. This news was disclosed in this year by Ed Sheeran through his recent Instagram post. Other than that, he also revealed that this occurred within a month of his best friend Jamal Edwards’s sudden death.

Jamal, who was a hugely influential music entrepreneur and DJ, died unexpectedly in February 2022 at the age of 31. He helped in launching Ed Sheeran’s career with his SBTV YouTube channel and had very close friendship. Ed Sheeran even described as his "brother" who died suddenly.

Ed Sheeran was very sad with the death of his close friend, while Cherry found out she had a tumor “with no route to treatment until after the birth. He also seemingly mentioned his infamous copyright lawsuit of April 2022 through his post.

He mentioned he was spiraling through fear, depression, and anxiety. He felt like he was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air. Now, details of these hardships will be presented through a brand-new docuseries on Disney+. Consists of four-part series, titled Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All, will be released on 3 May 2023 — just days ahead of Subtract.

The newly released trailer begins by charting Ed Sheeran’s “unlikely” rise to fame, with the singer even giving a shoutout to Jamal for being the “only person” to believe in his potential early on. It also includes Ed Sheeran gushing about his love for Cherry, mentioning: “Everything in my life got so much better when Cherry got into it. I got married, and I’m a dad who’s got two daughters.”

However, the tone of the docuseries changes when Ed mentions the deterioration of Cherry’s health during her pregnancy. This also followed by Jamal’s death shortly afterward.
